Price charged is inclusive of GST. Inspirations for the Extra Mile This CD Album is MTL's simple support of the Mission of the Singapore Disability Sports Council. "Best That We Can Be" was a song written because Ms Kelly FAN of the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) asked for it. The SDSC hosts the elite sports of the Paralympic Games and this year they are fielding Singapore athletes to Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games. When the brief was given by SDSC, it dawned upon me that people not only need rice and water, they also need inspiration. And Songs are a vital part of the inspirational menu. With that fuel in the heart, I asked my fellow MTL songwriter, Mr Roland ANG, to come write the song for SDSC. Ms Stella KON and Mr CheeTian LEE wrote the most important part of song - the lyrics. The three of us huddled at Coffee Bean (Waterloo Street, Bras Basah Road) one Saturday afternoon, armed with lattes plus, ploughed through the lyrics, testing the sensibility and singability using the powerful BandBox software to complete the song. The lyrics were "spec-ed" by SDSC to be "normal motivation" and not "sympathy" driven. I then began to understand that the disabled do not wish to be pitied, they want to be accepted as normal people, with a slight encumbrance, who can live life to the fullest. Thus the words can apply equally to an able bodied athlete as well. In fact, it can be for any endeavour each of us has to embark upon. Other caring songwriters have added to this beautiful compendium of motivational and love themes. Sean WONG, William SOH, Kenneth LYEN, Darren HOW, and Roland ANG, are our compatriots in the quest of sharing their musical art to inspire all. The MTL journey with SDSC (and SNPC - Singapore National Paralympic Council) is a "long distance" one. It is just the beginning of a "Music and Motion" mission that will complete the drive toward not only excellence in the Elite Sports, but also express the notion that disability is simply a continuum in the scale of human abilities - we do the utmost with our abilities, we shall be the Best That We Can Be.
